Headline:

Imperative Books Releases Directive, the Debut Novel from

Somerset-based Women’s Fiction Writer Ann Markel

Paragraph 1:

Somerset, PA, January 17, 2023 — Easton resident Ann Markel announced that her debut novel, Directive, is being released today by women’s fiction publisher Imperative Books. The title will be available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and other retailers and etailers of quality books, including directly through the publisher at Imperative Books. The novel depicts a college-age young woman whose life is disrupted by an undiagnosed biological disorder. Review copies are available upon request; email ann.markel@gmail.com.

Paragraph 2:

Directive tells the story of law student Ellen Deveraux, who struggles to hold on to her fiancé, her grade point average, and her own sanity as she unknowingly struggles with Bipolar Disorder. It is an honest account of a rocky journey against mental illness, and Ellen’s quest to attain the love and achievements her uncooperative brain has always insisted she did not deserve.

Quote:

“Directive illustrates the reality faced by many people, particularly young women, who may not even be aware their challenges are related to a treatable condition,” said Markel. “The lives of mentally ill people are not necessarily laced with the drama we see in movies. Ordinary human beings with full lives, loved ones, and obligations confront these issues daily. Yet they can find ways to overcome their disabilities and find resolution. If one young person recognizes themselves in these pages and seeks help, that’s a victory.”
